We are looking forward to meeting you for your data collection. You can expect to be in the lab for 60 minutes.
Location
The Human Performance and Biomechanics Lab on The University of Hawaii’s campus, Stan Sheriff Room 100.
This room is located across the hallway from the UH Varsity Athletics Strength and Conditioning Gym. On the map below, the location of the lab is marked with an orange star. As you approach the Stan Sheriff building, you will begin to see light yellow signs for “walking study”. Follow those signs to the laboratory.
If you get lost or are running late, call Liz at 415-416-5896.
Parking
Parking is $5 most days, and refundable if you leave within 30 minutes (for example, during a parent drop-off or pick-up). We suggest you park in the large parking structure (The largest light green, labeled "visitor parking" on the map below) which is within easy walking distance to the laboratory.
What to bring
Wear or bring athletic shoes, short shorts (not long leggings), and a sports bra. The testing will be completed in a sports bra if you feel comfortable. If you do not feel comfortable, you may wear a tight-fitting shirt.
How to prepare
- Please arrive hydrated
- Please refrain from exercise for at least 12 hours
- Please avoid eating for 4 hours prior to your scheduled time
- Please come with dry, clean skin (no powders or lotions)
- Please tie your hair off of your neck and back
- Please avoid, if possible, reflective logos on the clothes and shoes you bring (we will cover up anything reflective with tape)
If you are under the age of 18, we will need your parents’ consent to participate in this study. They can either come along and watch (and snap some really awesome photos of you during testing) or they can fill out the consent forms ahead of time. You should have received an email with two consent forms attached.
If you have any questions, please email Liz at lizletchford@gmail.com
Thank you for your participation. See you at the lab!
